Each issue exists in print and online, explores one topic in depth, and is produced in collaboration with researchers, practitioners, and writers from different disciplines and locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are three ways to get involved: as an&nbsp;<strong>author<\/strong>, producing content for the quarterly issue or contributing to the Atlas; as a&nbsp;<strong>curator<\/strong>, providing peer feedback on a forthcoming issue; or as a&nbsp;<strong>collaborator<\/strong>, coordinating a series or co-organizing a workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All contributions are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license. Each issue carries an ISSN and a DOI. Peer feedback is built into the production of every issue, not as a gatekeeping mechanism but as a collaborative tool for improving the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regardless of what you have in mind, the first step is always the same: write to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:hello@tarde.info\">hello@tarde.info<\/a>&nbsp;with a brief description of your proposal or interest. The editorial team provides design support, coordinates peer feedback, and handles printing and distribution. Authors retain copyright of their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each issue is composed of three elements: a printed handbook in A7 format, a do-it-yourself booklet containing an ethnographic exercise for readers, and an online space that expands the discussion beyond what the printed object can hold. All three work together around a shared topic and are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial license. Curators read the full draft, printed and online components, and provide written commentary on its content, coherence, structure, and development. The process is not blinded, and it is not a mechanism for rejection. It is a stage in the collaborative production of the work. Authors decide what to incorporate from the feedback they receive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because\u00a0<em>Tarde<\/em>\u00a0does not operate as a conventional academic journal, and because its issues combine text, image, format, and online material in ways that vary from issue to issue, curators are expected to approach each number on its own terms. Familiarity with the project\u2014its editorial principles, its formats, its scope\u2014is more useful here than expertise in a single discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no fixed template for a feedback report. A structure based on positive observations, constructive commentary, and concrete recommendations tends to work well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curators are contacted directly by the editorial team. Both involve bringing other people into the project and working alongside the editorial team rather than producing a singular object for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coordinating a series<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A series coordinator proposes a thematic arc of three or more issues, each authored by a different person or group. The coordinator is responsible for the overall coherence of the series \u2014 overseeing communication between contributors, ensuring editorial and visual consistency across numbers, and managing the peer-feedback process for each issue. The&nbsp;<em>Tarde<\/em>&nbsp;editorial team remains involved throughout and makes the final decision on each issue before publication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A series is a significant commitment. It works best when there is already a clear thematic or geographic frame, a sense of the people or communities who might be brought in, and a reason why the investigation benefits from unfolding across multiple issues rather than one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To propose a series, write to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:hello@tarde.info\">hello@tarde.info<\/a>&nbsp;with a description of the thematic arc, the number of issues you are envisioning, and the authors or groups you are thinking of working with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Workshops<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A\u00a0<em>Tarde<\/em>\u00a0workshop is an event, in person or online, organized around an issue, a methodology, a field practice, or a question in urban ethnography. Workshops can generate material that enters\u00a0<em>Tarde<\/em>&#8216;s publications, or they can exist as events in themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Workshops are collaborative by design. Responsibilities for the academic program, logistics, and communication are shared between the organizing parties. Material produced during a workshop may be published in\u00a0<em>Tarde<\/em>\u2014participants are informed of this possibility before the event and credited accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Workshops can be proposed by external collaborators, research groups, or institutions.
